Abstract

This study aimed to explore the relationship between personality traits and academic engagement, focusing on the mediating roles of academic persistence and resilience among girl students. Method: The research employed a descriptive-correlational design. A total of 303 students were selected using a multistage cluster random sampling method. The data were collected using the NEO Personality Inventory, the Academic Persistence Questionnaire by Taleb and colleagues, the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale for students. Findings: The proposed model was evaluated using structural equation modeling. Results indicated that academic persistence and resilience mediate the relationship between personality traits and academic engagement. . The findings showed that the indirect effects of neuroticism (β = -0.195), openness (β = 0.077) , extraversion (β = 0.139), and conscientiousness (β = 0.507) had a significant and meaningful indirect effect on academic engagement (P < 0.001).Conclusion: Based on the results obtained, which indicate the mediating role of academic persistence and resilience in the relationship between personality traits and academic engagement, it can be concluded that by fostering academic persistence and resilience through well-designed educational programs, we can bring about short-term changes in students' academic engagement. .. . . . . . . . .
