Mediating the role of spiritual leadership on relationship between exercise self-efficacy and professional commitment among physical education teachers

Abstract

The main purpose of current research was to examine the mediating role of spiritual leadership on relationship between exercise self-efficacy and professional commitment among physical education teachers. This research is a descriptive – correlation that the participants were all physical education teachers in Parsabad city of Ardabil (119 participants) using census method, all of whom were selected to answer the questionnaire. The research instruments were three questionnaires: teacher’s professional commitment Abmyr (1990), spiritual leadership Fry et al. (2005), and Self – efficacy and exercise habits survey Sallis et al (1988), that the reliability and validity of them was evaluated and confirmed. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze data. The results showed that there is significant relationship between exercise self-efficacy of teachers with sense of spiritual leadership but the relationship between exercise self-efficacy and professional commitment was not significant. Mediator role of spiritual leadership in the relationship between exercise self-efficacy and professional commitment was confirmed.
