The efficacy of emotional self- regulation training to reduce test anxiety high school students

Abstract

The present study investigated the effect of emotional self- regulation training on decreasing test anxiety of students.
This study is an experimental study with pre-test and post-test design and with control group.
Research samples were 40 students from statistical population of high school student in Tiran city.
Samples were selected with multiple stage cluster random sampling From these students , 20 student  were randomly assigned to the control group and 20 students were assigned to the experimental group.
Experimental group were trained   of emotional self- regulation during  eight 1/30-hour sessions.
Research instrument was phillip's  test anxiety and spilberger's clinical interview.
Gathered data were analyzed using covariance analysis method.
The result s of post- test covariance analysis showed there was significant difference between experimental group and control group. (p<. /0005). and  it's  effect size was percent 57 of the total variance of test anxiety.
Therefore  results  showed  that  of emotional self- regulation training  can be reduce test anxiety.
This results have  important  implication  in field  of  emotional  self-regulation training to prevent  test anxiety
