Studying The Role Of Art Therapy in Skills Development And Improvement Of Creative Attitude In Training Mentally Disabled Children With Emphasis On Creative Drawing

Abstract

The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the role of art therapy in developing skills and improving creative attitude in educable mentally retarded children with an emphasis on creative expression. The current research method is descriptive-correlational and structural equation modeling. The statistical population includes all children with mental disabilities in special schools, 30 people were selected by census sampling and a researcher-made questionnaire was distributed among them. To calculate the reliability, Cronbach's alpha coefficient and correlation coefficient were used to determine the validity of the instruments, as well as the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test to check the normality of the data. The data were analyzed through spss25 software. The results showed that art therapy has a significant effect on skill development and improvement of creative attitude in intellectually disabled children. Based on the findings of this research, it can be concluded that in order to develop skills and improve the creative attitude of mentally retarded children on characteristics such as personal skills, strengthening and raising the sense of self-confidence, individual independence and strengthening the establishment of social relationships, social and emotional adjustment of children.
