Predicting Professional Competence Based on Self-Efficacy, Creativity, and Media Literacy of Elementary School Teachers in Yazd City

Abstract

The aim of this research was to predict professional competence among teachers in Yazd city based on self-efficacy, creativity, and media literacy.The research method employed was descriptive correlational.The population of the study included all elementary school teachers employed in the education system of Yazd city in the academic year 1400-1401totaling 2322 individuals. A sample of 331 participants was selected through cluster random sampling method, based on the population size.Twenty girls' schools and twenty boys' schools were randomly selected from educational districts, and teachers responded based on entry and exit criteria. Data collection utilized researcher-made demographic questionnaires, along with professional competence questionnaires by Malaei Nezhad Rosenberg's Self-Esteem Scale ,Torrance's Creativity Test ,and Philosophical Media Literacy .Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistical indices (Pearson correlation coefficient and simultaneous regression) through SPSS software version 26. Results revealed a significant positive relationship between self-efficacy, creativity, media literacy, and professional competence. The research variables were able to predict73.8% of the variance in professional competence. Based on the findings, self-efficacy, creativity, and media literacy play a significant role in predicting teachers' professional competence.Identifying and strengthening predictive variables for teachers' professional competence is essential for classroom dynamics, advancing the educational system of the country
