Analyzing the perception of elementary school teachers about parents' intervention in educational activities: a qualitative research

Abstract

Background and Objectives: Parents' participation in educational activities is one of the educational needs. But sometimes this participation shows itself in the form of intervention and implementation in the teacher's work. The purpose of this research is to analyze the perception of elementary school teachers about parents'intervention in educational activities Methods: The method of this research is qualitative and phenomenological. The research participants are 20 primary school teachers of Sabzevar city in 1403. The sampling method was purposive. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and continued until the theoretical saturation of information.. Findings: The findings were analyzed using two stages of Strauss and Corbin coding. The results were classified in the form of 5 core codes. The findings of the research indicate the types of common parental interventions, necessary parental interventions, determining the rules and boundaries for parental interventions, and the strategies for managing parental interventions and the harms of interventions. Conclusion: The results showed that from the point of view of the teachers, parental intervention is acceptable in the form of a framework and as long as it does not threaten the specialized field of the teachers' work. Examining these negative effects is necessary for identify a educational system.
