The relationship between quality of life-school with academic encouragement considering the mediating role of academic self-concept

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating role of academic self-concept in relationship between quality of life-school with academic encouragement. Study’s goal is applied and the research method was descriptive correlational. The population of this study consisted of all students in fifth grade and sixth grade (420) in Salas Babajany city. According to Morgan table using spatial random sampling method, 200 subjects (90 males and 110 females) were selected. For data gathering, the questionnaires of quality of life-school, academic self-concept and academic encouragement were used. To analyze the data, SPSS and LISREL software were used.  The results showed that the quality of life school directly effects on academic self-concept and academic encouragement, and indirectly effects on academic encouragement through academic self-concept. Also the direct effect of academic self-concept on the academic encouragement was significant. So to increase the student’s motivation and academic encouragement, quality of life in school and academic self-concept should be considered.
