Abstract

Teacher preparation programs play a vital role in enhancing the quality of student learning. However, there is a lack of clarity surrounding the Skills Training Program for Teacher Candidates (STPTC). This study aims to identify the challenges and solutions for improving the STPTC. Method: A scoping systematic review was employed to analyze literature published between 2015 and 2023 in scientific databases. Findings: Inductive thematic analysis of the identified data led to the identification of seven challenges: adapting the curriculum to meet the educational needs of the teaching profession; ineffective management of the implementation of the preparation program; insufficient quality of internship experiences; ambiguity regarding the quality of the assessment of professional Competencies; weaknesses among university faculty in pedagogical and technological skills; negative climate of implementing modular courses in the university environment and inadequate welfare and educational infrastructure. Additionally, six solutions were proposed: delegating authority over certain aspects of the training program to university campuses; investing in software and hardware infrastructure; empowering teachers in alignment with the training curriculum; enhancing the quality of welfare facilities; identifying partner schools for Farhangian University; and revitalizing the training environment. Conclusion: Findings can be utilized to address existing shortcomings and enhance the new preparation program.
